“We recognized the first opportunities for the development of new business models in a timely manner, and we can rightfully say that we are a pioneer and regional leader of the green energy transition in our sector,” emphasizes Juraj Bukša, PhD.
The 12th edition of the PAR International Leadership Conference – PILC 2023 was held last weekend at the Milenij Hotel in Opatija, organized by the PAR Polytechnic and under the auspices of ACI. The focus of this already traditional conference this year was on the leadership of the fourth industrial revolution. A key panel on the economic and digital challenges of IR4.0 leadership was held on Friday, and one of the panelists was the director of the Nautical Department of ACI d.d., Juraj Bukša, PhD. All the panelists agree on one thing – young people today do not need to be informed, considering that information is at their fingertips, but they need to be motivated for a quantum leap in the way of thinking, working, understanding and educating.
The synergy of educational institutions with the city and county and companies in the surrounding area leads to a successful digital future
The PILC 2023 conference was opened with a welcome speech by Gordana Nikolić, dean of the PAR Polytechnic, Sanja Ljubetić, PhD, head of the department for corporate legal affairs at ACI d.d. and the representative of the main sponsor, followed by Marko Filipović, Mayor of the City of Rijeka, Zlatko Komadina, Prefect of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and His Excellency Martin Berishaj, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo, partner of this year’s edition. The program of the first day of the conference, in addition to two panels, also included the presentation of works, while on Saturday the program included student presentations, workshops and debates. The first plenary panel dealt with the economic and digital challenges of leadership of the fourth industrial revolution, while the second discussed the social, educational and market expectations of the Alpha generation, which is expected to be technologically savvy and socially and environmentally aware.
As a company of the future, ACI already implements the most modern technologies in its work
Juraj Bukša, PhD, director of the Nautical Department, participated in a panel discussion on the economic and digital challenges of IR4.0 leadership, where Edmond Hajrizi, founder and rector of UBT – University for Business and Technology in Priština, and Srđan Krčo, founder, shared their thoughts. of DunavNET and associate at AI&GAMING EDIH, Sanja Šimić, director of the Center for Digital Development of HGK and Dorotea Effenberger, president of the Tahograph Board. On that occasion, Mr. Bukša touched on leadership in nautical tourism, which as a niche has its own particularities and specific laws. “Smart technologies, such as we already apply in our system, are first and foremost a tool controlled by humans. Of course, certain high-tech tools are there precisely because they exceed the capabilities and capacities of humans, and in our case they are mainly related to underwater robotic and sensor technologies for managing the cleanliness of the sea and coastline in our marinas. However, given that we operate in the tourism sector, I don’t know what kind of society and humanity we should live in if it would be acceptable for robots or artificial intelligence to take over key hospitality jobs and activities”, concluded Juraj Bukša, PhD.
