The largest chain of marinas in the Mediterranean once again confirmed the role of an active and dedicated member of the local community by participating in an event that represents one of the symbols of the city of Rijeka
Improving the lives of the local population is a key component of the development of any tourist destination. Therefore, ACI, in accordance with its fundamental principles, supported the popular race that took place on February 12. It is a prelude to the grand finale of the traditional Rijeka Carnival. The city of Rijeka has a special place in the destination plan of ACI because it is its headquarters, and soon the largest investment in nautical tourism in the history of the Republic of Croatia will be realized here – ACI marina Rijeka. In addition, both ACI and the Rijeka Carnival are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, which further strengthened the bond between the two peers.
ACI marina Rijeka presented by masked runners
As part of the Rijeka Carnival, the biggest racing event in Rijeka and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the biggest carnival race in Croatia took place. It is about the Torpedo CARNIVAL RUN race, the 7th round of the Rijeka WINTER LEAGUE, a traditional sports event that gathered 200 masked runners again this year. The race was held on Sunday, February 12, at Rijeka’s Molo Longo, and was organized by the Rival Triathlon Club and the Torpedo Runners Sports Association in cooperation with the Tourist Board of the City of Rijeka. ACI was the main sponsor of this 5-kilometer long race, which took place very close to the construction site of the future ACI Marina Rijeka in Porto Baroš. On that occasion, the runners and the gathered citizens were presented with the project of building the Rijeka marina, which will transform Rijeka from a post-industrial city into an exclusive tourist destination, and the city itself will take on a completely new look.
With its contribution, ACI further enriched Rijeka’s social scene
The international carnival parade is the crowning glory of the carnival celebrations in Kvarner and beyond, as evidenced by the title of TOP Croatian tourism event awarded by the Croatian Tourist Board. Competition in imagination, wit and originality, fireworks of colors, a parade of thousands of masks and a large number of spectators from the country and abroad make the recognizable brand of the city of Rijeka. Just as ACI does its care for the local community, the Rijeka Carnival not only preserves tradition, but also creates it through new editions and projects. This year’s carnival will reach its peak on February 19, when more than 10,000 participants and 100,000 spectators are expected. During the month of the carnival, the people of Rijeka can expect numerous accompanying activities supported by ACI, and the Torpedo Carnival Run, Rijeka’s largest running race, is just one of them.
