The Regatta that made Pula become a part of the big project TRIESTE YES – Yachting Entertainment Show
The regatta PULA MAXI ON 2021, run by sailing clubs Uljanik Pula and Yacht Club Adriaco Trieste, was launched on Thursday, July 22nd. Pula hosted one of the laps this big project TRIESTE YES – Yachting Entertainment Show – consists of, thus rounding out a respectable nautical map Trieste – Pula – Venice. Due to the great logistic support offered by ACI Marina Pula, the city of Pula hosted the whole fleet of the most impressive maxi cruisers, the largest sailboats that reach a length of up to twenty-seven meters and have onboard more than twenty crew members, most of whom are professionals.
Despite a greater number of those impressive sailboats was supposed to take part in the regatta only five cruisers started due to strong wind at the port of Trieste, and one of them, the sailboat “FANATIC”, had a wreck already in front of Savudrija. Despite that, due to the great company, almost perfect weather conditions and the beautiful Pula Aquatorium, the overall impression was not bad at all.
“We are very glad that Pula was the host of the sailing regatta PULA MAXI ON 2021 which shall not only attract passionate lovers of this attractive sport, but also many other people who want to enjoy the unusual views of those fascinating sails in the port of Pula. We should take this opportunity to revive the area of Pula that gravitates towards the sea to bring cruisers back to the port of Pula and thus bring the waterfront (Riva) and the city centre of Pula back to life. In any case, this is an event that plays an important role in the development of our city by adding some content to it”, commented Deputy Mayor Ivona Močenić.
This important regatta was supported by ACI, the top name on the Croatian nautical and yachting scene. “This is definitely a new top-notch event for Pula as it will bring some excellent athletes to our beautiful waters. ACI is always there to offer logistic support and promote such events from this beautiful site”, said Darko Starčević, ACI Marina Pula Director and Regional Director of ACI Marinas Umag, Rovinj, Pula and Pomer.
