The largest chain of marinas in the Mediterranean and the regional nautical leader traditionally continues to take care of the environment, the sea and the coast, and by its example leaves preserved flora and fauna as a legacy to future generations.
Last weekend, a large sea and land cleaning operation was carried out on the Pakleni otoci, with a focus on the ACI marina Palmižana, which is the most visited touristic location in the area. This action is part of the project “Hell’s islands in blue and green”, which is led by the Hvar Mountaineering Society in cooperation with the City of Hvar, the Public Institution “Sea and Karst” and the Association of Sports Associations of the City of Hvar. A total of 25 people participated, including divers and volunteers of the Hvar Mountaineering Society and the Hvar Red Cross, as well as employees of ACI Marina Palmižana, who with their contribution continued the long tradition of caring for the cleanliness of the sea and the environment, which is nurtured year after year at the level of the entire of ACI as the largest chain of marinas in the Mediterranean. By removing waste from the seabed and cleaning the beaches and coast, ACI Marina Palmižana and Stipanska bay were relieved of 500 kg of waste, which represents a significant step in preserving the cleanliness of the sea and coast for future generations.
We additionally strengthen the already unbreakable bond between man and the sea
Diligent divers, volunteers and employees of ACI Marina Palmižana successfully cleaned this jewel of the Adriatic from half a ton of waste, thus ensuring a brighter future for the flora and fauna of the Hvar archipelago. Most of the waste was removed from the area of ACI marina Palmižana and Stipanska bay, which are exposed to high tourist pressure. However, it was noted that a smaller amount of waste was collected than in previous years, which makes us especially happy because this fact confirms the increasing awareness of the local community and visitors about the importance of nature conservation.
ACI marina Palmižana is one of our most special and most frequently visited marinas by boaters, because thanks to its unique environment, it has literally merged with nature. With these cleaning actions, we contribute to the promotion of environmental protection and raise the level of awareness of the local population, as well as our guests, who come in increasing numbers every year. We are extremely glad that the action resulted in such a success, and it is even more important to us that the students of Hvar Primary School will join us at the next action already on May 18, because they are the ones to whom we leave our sea and coast as a legacy, with the desire to keep them equally clean for all generations to come and after them”, said the director of ACI Marina Palmižana, Rino Krstić.
We have been continuously raising the standards of care for the sea and the coast – and have been doing so for a full 40 years
For 40 years, ACI d.d., the largest chain of marinas in the Mediterranean, has been systematically improving the standards of marine and environmental protection with the aim of taking care not only of the sea itself and the undersea, but also of the quality of life of the local communities in which it operates. As a leader in nautical tourism and a key element of domestic tourism, ACI recognizes the preservation of the cleanliness of the sea and coast as its basic value, but also its greatest obligation. ACI marina Palmižana is one of the most special ACI marinas and the most popular among sailors, thanks to its unique connection with nature. Accordingly, this port of nautical tourism experiences high tourist pressure during the summer months, which is why such cleaning actions are of the utmost importance, both for environmental protection and for raising the awareness of the local community and visitors about the importance of responsible management of such a natural treasure. We would like to express our special thanks to the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency and the City of Hvar, who also provided a significant contribution by financing the project “Hell’s Islands in Blue and Green”.
