After swimming around 104 Dalmatian islands, islets and reefs through four Dalmatian counties, ACI ambassador became the first woman from Croatia to be inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame
The young Croatian long-distance swimmer and ACI ambassador successfully completed the sports and humanitarian project “104 Dalmatians”, which began on April 24, 2024, and ACI d.d. proudly supported it until its completion on November 1, 2024. The aim of the project was to connect Dalmatian islands, islets and reefs in four Dalmatian counties, with the starting points being ACI marinas – ACI Marina Korčula, ACI Marina “Veljko Barbieri” and ACI Marina Palmižana. The first stage of the swim began with a swim around the Ježinac reef in Split, and the completion of the project was marked on the Školjić reef in the Kaštela Bay, where the celebration of this extraordinary achievement symbolically began. The largest chain of marinas in the Mediterranean and Dina are proof of their common perseverance in one goal – the promotion of Croatia’s natural beauty in the world.
Dina Levačić, with the support of ACI, significantly contributed to the humanitarian aspect of the project
By swimming a distance of 160 kilometers, Dina successfully completed the humanitarian aspect of the project, which refers to the “sale” of islands in exchange for donations. The aim of this part of the project is to raise funds that will be directed to projects that are being implemented on the Dalmatian islands. A total of 7,400 euros were raised through donations, and then, after a public tender in January 2025, the distribution of the collected funds will begin according to individual projects of non-profit organizations and associations operating on the Dalmatian islands or whose end beneficiaries are the island residents.
“I am indescribably proud of the successfully completed swimming project “104 Dalmatians”, through which I had the opportunity and honor to present to the world the beauties of beautiful Dalmatia, the Dalmatian islands and the Adriatic Sea, with a special emphasis on those less known to the public. During the project, I was faithfully supported by ACI, with whom I share my love of the sea. I believe that my perseverance will encourage others to become aware of the importance of keeping the islands and the sea clean, because large amounts of garbage found in the sea also endanger the marine ecosystem,” said Dina Levačić, Croatian long-distance swimmer and ACI ambassador.
The best long-distance swimmer in the world has also become the first woman from Croatia to be inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame
The fact that Dina’s successes are endless is also evidenced by the fact that she became the first woman from Croatia to be inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, which is a reward and great recognition for the many years of effort and hard work she has invested in her career. This honorary recognition is also an incentive to continue her swimming exploits.
In addition, Dina has achieved top results and swimming achievements, and proof of her sporting spirit is her being declared the best athlete according to the International Open Water Swimming Organization (WOWSA) in 2023. In addition, she won the title of Večernjak’s Person of the Year and is the first Croatian to swim the English Channel. The titles do not end there, because Dina is also adorned with the prestigious triple crown of long-distance swimming, thanks to swimming the Manhattan bridges in New York and the Gulf of California from Catalina Island to San Pedro. This made her the sixth person ever and only the second woman to achieve this feat within 90 days. She also swam the “Ocean’s Seven” and became the youngest woman in history to do so. In addition, the largest marina chain in the Mediterranean supported Dina during her three-week adventure in Africa, where she became the first person from Croatia to swim across Robben Island, an island known for its infamous political prison, and won two major swimming challenges – False Bay and Cape Point. Although Dina Levačić is already known for her impressive sporting achievements and records, her dedication to humanitarian projects is what truly sets her apart. With her selfless engagement and active participation in a number of humanitarian initiatives, Dina is shaping a career that is truly dedicated to the community. Bound by a common vision, Dina and ACI are promoting the natural beauty of Croatia on a global level through this collaboration, and ACI is thus confirming its commitment to socially responsible business. By supporting an active lifestyle and inspiring younger generations to engage in sports, ACI also promotes the values of health, sustainability, love of the sea and movement. This collaboration is further proof that ACI is one of the greatest friends of Croatian sport and athletes, and their shared mission remains to connect people through the sea and an active lifestyle.
