The new nautical season symbolically started with the first Skradin Sailboat Regatta gathering 19 sailing crews at ACI Marina Skradin.
On Saturday, April 10th, the race crews taking part in the international regatta ran by Kon Tiki Croatia Sailing Club and ACI Marina Skradin sailed four windward-leeward course races, with the Furiosa from Uskok Sailing Club being the fastest. This regatta was the greatest opportunity for the city of Skradin to position and represent itself with its full nautical potentials.
The participants enjoyed spring-like weather with the wind in their sails while respecting all recommended epidemiological and safety measures.
Like this, the sailing season started in the best possible way – with an impressive fleet of sailing boats and excellent weather conditions. The south wind Jugo was reaching speeds of up to 20 knots making it possible for the race crews to sail fast. Thus, together with the Furiosa from Uskok Sailing Club, the ClubSwan 36 with its ACI Sail race crew stood out from the rest.
“Speaking from the perspective of a sailor, we had extraordinary weather conditions for sailing. The four races led by the excellent Regatta Committee set the bar high for the next year’s Skradin Regatta. The ACI Sail crew did a great job in the regatta and we gained the podium finish, ending up second though, behind a bigger and faster boat from Zadar. Finally, by winning the last race reaching speeds of almost 20 knots, we have clearly demonstrated the performance of our ClubSwan 36. We are glad to have been able to praise the First Skradin Regatta through which ACI showed its strength once again and, despite the challenging times, brought up the importance of sailing and nautics as our strongest tourist asset”, said Ivan Kljaković Gašpić, one of the competitors and ACI Sail project manager.
Not only will the boaters remember this regatta for its excellent sailing conditions and even better local cuisine, but they also visited the beautiful Krka waterfalls.
The organizers understood the importance of implementing all recommended measures to ensure the safety of participants throughout the event.
Therefore, we avoided larger gatherings and got the permission of the competent Harbor Master’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior to hold the regatta.
This international regatta aroused great interest among the important participants of the Croatian and Slovenian sailing world. Consequently, ACI and Skradin got a brilliant opportunity to position themselves as an excellent destination and a great host.
Apart from the fact that the regatta sailing world got richer by another Croatian nautical pearl, such a great opening of the season is such an inspiration for further development of the nautical sector and nautical tourism in Croatia, even though general epidemiological circumstances are still tough.
