CHALLENGES OF GREEN TRANSITION: WHAT BUSINESS MODELS IS DEVELOPING ACI AS A REGIONAL LEADER IN NAUTICAL TOURISM

Why ACI is a regional leader in nautical tourism, but also in the development of smart, green and sustainable business models, at the conference of the Voice of Istria spoke a member of the Board, doc dr. Sc. Ivan Herak

ACI considers care for the sea and the environment to be one of its most important values and duties. Numerous projects and awards for responsible management of the sea and the coast and the development of smart, green and sustainable business models show that this is not just a matter of duty, but also of true love. A member of the ACI Management Board, doc. dr. sc. Ivan Herak, who, in addition to numerous cleaning actions in ACI marinas across the country, especially pointed out the most modern technological solutions applied by ACI, for which the best example is the fully digitalized ACI marina Rovinj.

“The human factor in the green transition is undoubted of great importance. However, for a long time now, there has been no doubt that technology will play a crucial role in the future. ACI therefore closely monitors market developments in the field of digital transformation and continuously applies the latest digital solutions, both in creating a better experience for its guests and in developing sustainable business models. The most recent example of this is the fully digitalized ACI marina Rovinj, which with its five anchors is also one of the most luxurious marinas in the Mediterranean, “said a member of the Board, doc. dr. sc. Ivan Herak. He points out that this primarily refers to traffic management systems within the marina and advanced metering systems that enable real-time resource consumption management, digital display of measured data and smart solutions for monitoring energy and water consumption per pier through automation and sensors. He announced all the latest technological solutions in the future ACI marina Rijeka in the nautical tourism port Porto Baroš, the largest nautical tourism project in the history of Croatia, in which ACI in cooperation with GITONE will invest at least 363 million kunas over the next few years.

A tradition of caring for the sea, the environment and the community

However, if something depends exclusively on man, then it is the love of the sea, the environment and the community. It is a tradition to which the ACI has been faithful since its very beginnings, and which it still considers one of its most important duties. This is primarily evident in large-scale clean-up operations at ACI marinas across the country, which bring together many ACI staff, volunteers from local diving clubs and other valuable community members year after year. and various factors end up there throughout the year. And how significant and successful these actions are is best confirmed by the internationally recognized Blue Flags, which proudly fly in almost all ACI marinas across the Adriatic, and which symbolize the exceptional cleanliness of the sea and coast and responsible management of maritime assets.
